Lorazepam is a benzodiazepine. It is usually prescribed for anxiety or panic disorders, insomnia, and depression. This drug is also used with chemotherapy for breast cancer patients, to help prevent nausea and vomiting.
Lorazepam leaves your bloodstream fairly quickly, so there is little danger of toxicity, but it can become addictive. Talk with your doctor about how to taper off of Ativan (lorazepam) if you are ending treatment with this drug.
